The Flora of Thorn Park Farm, Monday 26th January 

Chris Wilson is a leading figure in the campaign to bring back the wild flowers that used to thrive on traditionally farmed arable land. He is a Project Officer for the National Park's Cornfield Flowers Project and an excellent photographer. He will be talking about and showing pictures of what he has achieved in bringing back wild flowers on his own farm. Microscopy Course.

YBKA has just announced that a course will be run at Sheffield this year starting on 31 January. There are seven sessions ending in September, cost £110, limited places so if you want to do it apply immediately. Details attached.

As you may know I am now Secretary of the Scarborough and District Bee Keepers Association. I can't compete with the excellent job that Stephen Muchow has been doing for the last three years but I'll do my best and try to keep you informed. I'll be using this email account as the main means of communication together with the Website which Stephen will continue to manage. Members without access to email will get mailings on key events and issues.

Peter Chapman Memorial Photo Competition Awards, Monday 15 December.

Peter Chapman Memorial Photo Competition Awards PLUS Steve Race presentation 'Yorkshire Coast Nature'. This will be a fascinating evening for beekeepers and wild life enthusiasts. Our new event, the Photo Competition, inaugurated in memory of Peter Chapman, has drawn a wide range of quality entries and the winners will be announced and shown. The prizes will be presented by the eminent Yorkshire wildlife photographer Steve Race who will also be giving a talk on our local Coastal Nature illustrated by his own award  winning photographs.  7.00 pm  St Catherine's Hospice Education Block, Throxenby Lane, Scarborough, YO12 5RE. All welcome.

SDBKA Annual Dinner, Saturday 7th February.

Well its the first one really but it will be annual if we do it again in 2016. We are limited to 30 places, twelve have gone already, so please do let me know straightaway by reply to this if you fancy coming. Can't promise there will be no talk of bees but it will be fun anyway. Family welcome. In January I'll be asking you to select your dishes, which may allow us to negotiate a discount,  and to confirm your reservation with a deposit.
